Delightfully Refreshing First Trailer for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE: MUTANT MAYHEM

Paramount Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for the Seth Rogen-produced animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem! There’s been a lot of curiosity about this movie, and now that we have out first look at what we can expect, I’m curious to see what Ninja Turtles fans think!

I personally like what this first trailer shows off! I like the art style, which is clearly inspired by what the Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse franchise is doing, and I really dig the vibe! The music used in the trailer does the perfect job of setting the tone – A Tribe Called Quest’s “Can I Kick It?”

One thing that this movie also will bring that I found very refreshing was that the Ninja Turtles actually feel like they’re real teenagers. Those turtles are voiced by Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, and Brady Noon as Raphael.

Other cast members include Jackie Chan as Splinter, John Cena as Rocksteady, Seth Rogen as Bebop, Ice Cube as Superfly, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, and Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom.

Here’s the synopsis for the movie:

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

President of Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation Ramsey Naito said in a statement: “We are beyond thrilled by this world-class cast we’ve assembled to bring these iconic, beloved characters to life in a new chapter of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe. This really sets a new bar for this globally celebrated franchise, and we can’t wait to show audiences this film.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is being directed by Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Gravity Falls, Disenchantment). The movie is also being produced by Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver. The film is being developed by Nickelodeon for Paramount Pictures.

The film is set to hit theaters on August 4, 2023.
