Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts Set To Reteam For Director Sam Esmail's LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND
Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts are set to star in a family drama for Netflix titled Leave the World Behind, which is based on the upcoming novel by Rumaan Alam.
Leave the World Behind tells the story of two families, “strangers to each other, who are forced together on a long weekend gone terribly wrong. Roberts will play the mother of the family that rents a house and Washington will portray the homeowner.”
The story also explores the “complexities of parenthood, race, and class — along with how our closest bonds are reshaped in moments of crisis.”
Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail is attached to direct from his own adapted script. He previously worked with Roberts on the Amazon series, Homecoming. Washington and Roberts previously worked together on the 1993 legal thriller The Pelican Brief, and it’s its cool to see them have the opportunity to work together again.
