Denzel Washington’s THE EQUALIZER Will Get a Sequel

Denzel Washington's The Equalizer was a surprisingly great movie. I didn't really know what to expect when I went to see it, but it was a badass action-packed thriller! Sony Pictures has officially announced that they will be developing a sequel, and Washington is expected to reprise his role as vigilante Robert McCall.

The film franchise is based on a 1980s TV series and revolves around a very intriguing character. McCall is a retired black ops agent who tries to atone for past transgressions by helping people, and I think it's great that they are going to explore him more in another movie. The first film followed the character as he takes on the Russian mob to help save a young girl played by Chloe Moretz.

Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) directed the first film, but there's no confirmation on whether or not he’ll return for the sequel. He and Washington make a great team, so I hope that they come back together for the sequel. We do know that they are going to reteam on MGM’s upcoming remake of The Magnificent Seven, which reunites them with Ethan Hawke, who also worked with them on Training Day.
