DESTINY 2: NEW LIGHT Makes DESTINY 2 Free and Launches on Steam in September

During Bungie’s latest livestream, they announced Destiny 2: New Light. This will be a new entry point in the series that will essentially be Destiny 2 with the one change that it’s free. That’s right, when New Light launches, new players will be able to try out the game for free. This push is part of Bungie’s initiative to get more players involved without them feeling bogged down by the overwhelming amount of content. New Light will include the base game, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind.

This news came shortly after it was revealed that Destiny 2 would be a part of Google Stadia which will allow gamers to play the popular game on any device with a Chrome browser. In addition, it was revealed that New Light will also launch on Steam.

New Light isn’t the only news about Destiny 2 though. The upcoming expansion Shadowkeep was also shown off and features a new a la carte pricing model. That means that Bungie wants to do away with season passes it seems. They want the players to know what they’re buying before dropping their money. However, it sounds like if you buy the latest expansion, that’ll get you access to the season’s content.

New Light is set to release on September 17, and Shadowkeep will release sometime this fall.
