Details on Danny Boyle's Upcoming Beatles-Inspired Musical Comedy

Now that Danny Boyle is no longer directing Bond 25, he's putting his focus on another film project he's been developing with screenwriter Richard Curtis (Love Actually, War Horse, The Little Mermaid).

According to Rolling Stone, the film will be a musical comedy that will tell the story of a singer-songwriter played by Himesh Patel (EastEnders) who wakes up one morning to discover that he’s the only person in the entire world who remembers The Beatles.

Musical artist Ed Sheeran will also be in the film and he will play himself. When talking to the Associated Press about his role in the story, he explains:

"I discover him and take him on tour. Then he gets much, much bigger than me through doing stuff. Yeah, it’s very clever."

I assume that means that Patel's character will build his fame on the songs of The Beatles that no one can remember except for him. This film sounds like it could be fun!

Sheeran hasn't really done that much acting, he did pop up in Game of Thrones once. But this film project will be his biggest project to date. He says:

"I got to actually kind of learn how to act. With the Game of Thrones thing, that was literally me popping in for a day and making a cameo. Or Bastard Executioner was me popping in for a day. But this was like full days on set, like full 12-hour days."

The movie also has a great supporting cast that includes Lily James (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) as a teacher, Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Lamorne Morris (New Girl), and Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), who plays a talent agent.

It will be interesting to see how the music of The Beatles will be implemented into the film and the story it tells.

The Untitled Project is set to be released on September 13, 2019.
