Details on David Goyer's Supernatural Thriller THE FOREST
Focus Features has just acquired the right to an original project from David Goyer, and it sounds like it could be a great movie.
The supernatural thriller is called The Forest, and it's set in the legendary Aokigahara forest, a real-life place in Japan where people go to end their lives. The story centers on "a young American woman who comes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared. Despite everyone's warnings not to 'stray from the path,' she dares to enter the forest to discover the truth about her sister's fate, only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead who now prey on anyone who crosses their paths."
The movie will be helmed by commercial director Jason Zada from a script written by Sarah Cornwell. Zada also directed an interactive short called Take This Lollipop. It connected to Facebook and made it appear that a killer was stalking you.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this project turns out. I think it has a haunting setting and a creepy concept.
