Details on Lando Calrissian's Role in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX
Earlier this week, we shared some reference photos for Star Wars: Episode IX and one of the things that they showed us is that Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian hasn’t changed his look. He’s got that same yellow shirt, much like the one he sported in Solo, and he is also sporting a fancy blue cape and a gentleman’s cain.
Well, we have another little detail to share with you. According to Making Star Wars, Lando “doesn’t have a really large role in the story. Supposedly he acts as a Maz Kanata type of character that points the way on the heroes path to obtain the MacGuffin.” There’s no information on what that MacGuffin is.
So, while I was hoping that Lando would have a bigger role in this final chapter of the Star Wars saga, it appears that will not be the case.
The report also mentions one other thing that has nothing to do with Lando. I don’t think it’s really a spoiler, but just in case:
Here’s what the report says:
One of the weirder things I’ve been told has zero context. So you’ll be left to speculate on what it means. There’s a scene in Star Wars: Episode IX where See-Threepio has Chewbacca’s bandolier on with his bowcaster and he’s holding Rey’s staff. It sounds like one of Threepio’s craziest situations since Attack of the Clones but we have no confirmation of Threepio-style dad jokes (this is such a drag).
Not really a big deal, but just thought I’d include it for those of you curious to know anything and everything you can about Episode IX.
