Details Revealed About Leonardo DiCaprio's Character in Tarantino's Manson Family Movie

We're learning more and more about Quentin Tarantino‘s highly anticipated Manson Family movie. The movie still doesn't have an official title but the Pulp Fiction director recently cast Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role, and there are signs that point to Margot Robbie joining the production next. But now we're learning some possible info about DiCaprio’s character.

Since Tarantino walked away from long-time producers The Weinstein Company, Sony eventually landed the film. We then learned that DiCaprio will play “a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business.” Now, we have even more potential details about DiCaprio’s character.

Deadline recently reported a whole bunch of new info about DiCaprio’s role, and the movie in general:

What he plays, more specifically, is an actor who had his own Western show, Bounty Law, that ran on the air from 1958 to 1963. His attempt to transition to movies didn’t work out and in 1969 — the film is set at the height of hippy Hollywood movement– he’s guesting on other people’s shows while contemplating going to Italy which has become a hotbed for low-budget Westerns.

DiCaprio playing an aging Western actor could be considered a call-back to the previous film Leo worked with Tarantino on Django Unchained. It’ll also be interesting to see DiCaprio playing a character who is considered past-his-prime. 

The report describes the film as a “Pulp Fiction-esque tapestry of Los Angeles during the summer of the Manson murders,” and that Tarantino is about to “get busy with casting.”

Tom Cruise has also been rumored as another possible cast member for the film, and there’s also a rumor floating around that Tarantino wants Al Pacino in the film as well. Wow, could you imagine DiCaprio, Cruise and Pacino all in the same movie?
