Details Revealed Concerning Kit Harington's ETERNALS Character Black Knight and the Film's Production
Fans have been grasping at straws for any information leading up to the release of Marvel’s next big ensemble film, Eternals. Last summer at Comic-Con San Diego, we were introduced to the actors who will make up the ensemble. They include Angelina Jolie as Thena, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Richard Madden as Icarus, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, and Kit Harington as an archaeologist named Dane Whitman.
Since then, the info on the film has been pretty quiet, but we did get this synopsis back in January:
Marvel Studios' The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's most ancient enemy, The Deviants.
And now we have a little tidbit from a report by TheDirect, that talks about the rushed production schedule, and what that has meant for Harington’s character Dane Whitman, a.k.a. Black Knight:
The Eternals pre-production was rushed in order to meet the movie’s filming schedule, meaning costumes were not finished, sets were not completely constructed, and even parts of the script were incomplete at the start of filming. Specifically, Kit Harington's Black Knight costume was unfinished when scenes with him in the suit were being shot, so it's likely that post-production work will be needed to digitally complete the suit a-la Iron Man and Iron Spider style. And yes, Harington will be sporting a comic accurate Black Knight costume for the studio's next epic ensemble.
So it looks like we won’t see anything from Harington’s Black Knight until the movie is nearly done. That’s a ways to go, especially considering the movie has been moved from November of this year to February 12th, 2021. But that’s not a big deal. This is what was done with RDJ’s Iron Man, as well as Tom Holland’s Iron Spider in the final two Avengers films, and they were awesome.
The source also compiled a bunch of pictures of Black Knight from the comics that I’ll add below. Check them out and let us know which version of the character you think is closest to what we will be seeing in the upcoming movie.
