Details Revealed For The Original Ending of CAPTAIN MARVEL
While Captain Marvel continues to dominate the box office, some new details have surfaced regarding the film that involves the way it was originally supposed to end.
The original ending was very different from the one we ended up seeing in the film, but the one we did get works so much better than what they were going to do. If you haven’t seen the movie yet…
The information comes from the film’s editor Debbie Berman (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Black Panther), who opened up about the ending of the film in an interview with ET, saying:
“I did actually suggest some tweaks to the ending of this film. It used to end with Carol flying off into space alone, and I found that a bit jarring. Like, where exactly was she going? And what was she doing? It felt like we needed a stronger visual to assert a more specific justification for her leaving and disappearing for so many years. So we added Talos and his family in their spaceship waiting for her, and they all fly off together. It gave her more of a sense of purpose and made it easier to believe that she left her newfound life on Earth because she was with a friend we knew she cared about, and for a more specific mission. It gave more resonance and closure to her final moment in the film.”
Yeah, I can see why they changed it! It would have been a little weird seeing Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) fly into space alone with no clear mission, journey, or purpose.
I actually really enjoyed how the Skrulls were handled in the movie. It was an unexpected surprise for a lot of fans that they ended up not really being the villains of the story. Just an alien race trying to find their place in the universe and survive.
I actually wouldn’t mind seeing another film that focuses on the adventures of Captain Marvel and Talos. That could be fun. I actually really liked Ben Mendelsohn’s take on the character Talos! He surprisingly ended up being one of the most entertaining characters of the film.
What did you think of the ending of Captain Marvel and what would you like to see in a sequel?
