DETECTIVE PIKACHU Distribution Moves From Universal to Warner Bros.

Legendary and Warner Bros. used to be a great couple. They had their ups and downs with films like the produced together. In 2013 the two studios decided to break up. Legendary decided that Universal was hotter. They most recently released Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Skyscraper together.

However, it looks like Legendary is missing WB as THR is now reporting that Legendary has moved their distribution deal for Detective Pikachu from Universal to WB. Sources say the move is a precursor to Legendary's moving its distribution deal back to Warners.

The film will still star Ryan Reynolds as everyone’s favorite electric mouse and interestingly enough the release date of May 10th, 2019, has not been changed.

Do you think this change of distributors will have a big impact on the film? I’m still waiting to see a teaser of Reynolds walking around in a Pikachu costume.
