DEVIL MAY CRY Renewed for Third and Final Season at Netflix as the Force Edge Saga Nears Its End
Netflix has officially greenlit a third and final season of Devil May Cry, bringing the animated adaptation of Capcom’s iconic video game franchise to its planned conclusion.
The announcement comes shortly after the debut of Season 2, which has continued to perform strongly for the streaming service and remains in Netflix’s Global Top 10. For fans who have been following Dante’s demon-slaying journey, it looks like the story has always been building toward this final chapter.
According to showrunner Adi Shankar, the three-season structure wasn't something that came together along the way. It was the plan from the start.
“For those of you who have been paying attention to the episode names, I have been showing you the structure the entire time. This was always Dante’s Divine Comedy with guns and a red coat.
“Season 1 was Inferno. Season 2 was Purgatorio. Season 3 will be Paradiso. These three seasons make up ‘The Force Edge Saga.’ Since inception, ‘The Force Edge Saga’ was designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a television series."
That creative roadmap gives fans a much clearer picture of where the series has been heading. Rather than an open-ended adaptation, Devil May Cry was conceived as a complete trilogy, with each season representing a different stage of Dante’s journey.
The animated series puts its own spin on Capcom’s beloved action franchise, following demon hunter Dante as dark forces attempt to tear open a gateway between the human world and the demon realm.
While Dante spends much of his time battling monsters and taking on dangerous jobs, he remains unaware of just how important he is to the fate of both worlds.
The voice cast includes Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante, Robbie Daymond as Vergil, and Scout Taylor-Compton as Lady.
Shankar, who also created Netflix’s acclaimed Castlevania animated series, serves as showrunner, with animation handled by Studio Mir, the acclaimed studio known for delivering some incredibly stylish action sequences.
The numbers suggest the series has found a sizable audience as well. According to Netflix, Devil May Cry has spent four weeks in the Netflix Global Top 10 across its first two seasons. Season 1 accumulated 21.7 million views in 2025, while Season 2 has already pulled in 6.4 million views in just its first two weeks on the platform.
With one final season left to tell the last chapter of Dante’s story, fans can look forward to seeing how The Force Edge Saga wraps up. If Shankar’s plan plays out as intended, Season 3's Paradiso will deliver the conclusion that has been mapped out since the series first entered development.
Both Devil May Cry Season 1 and Season 2 are currently streaming on Netflix.
