DEXTER: NEW BLOOD Will Not Get a New Season, But a Prequel Series is Being Considered
Showtime’s Dexter revival Dexter: New Blood is not going to be getting a second season. The show was a huge hit for the cable network and it became one of the most-watched series in Showtime history. But, according to TV Line, Showtime is not going to move forward with a Season 2.
Don’t worry, though! The franchise will live on as “Showtime — which will soon merge with Paramount+ — is exploring a number of new iterations of Dexter, including a prequel series centered around a young version of the titular antihero.”
That would certainly be an interesting story to explore, one that I’d gladly watch as Dexter has a fascinating past. This new series concept is not set in stone, and there are no details on what aspect of Dexter’s past they would explore, but if it happens there’s a fan base here ready to watch it.
It makes sense that they wouldn’t move forward with a second season as Dexter: New Blood ended with the murder of Michael C. Hall‘s Dexter Morgan. After that, I never thought we’d get a new season! That seemed like it would be the final nail in the coffin for the Dexter series, but… maybe not.
Would you be interested in watching a Dexter prequel series?
