DIABLO and OVERWATCH Are Both Being Adapted Into Animated Shows

The popular video game franchises Diablo and Overwatch are both being adapted into animated series for Netflix. The news comes from Nick van Dyk, co-president of Activision Blizzard Studios, who previously served as a producer on the Netflix original animated series Skylanders Academy.

According to van Dyk, Diablo is getting an animated adaptation "rendered in anime style," and it’s currently in pre-production. There are no details on Overwatch or the animation style. All he said in regard to that is that he "developed and sold an animated series based on Blizzard's Overwatch franchise," alongside his creative partner.

Other than that, there’s no other information to share. These are both huge franchises that have big fanbases so if these shows end up actually being good quality shows, they could be huge hits, just like Castlevania. Hopefully, they end up bringing on some talented creative teams to develop these shows.
