Did You See That? RWBY Vol. 6 Ep. 2

I don’t have Rooster Teeth First, so I have to wait a week to see the latest episodes of RWBY. However, that does not change how amazing this show is. I figured I’d take a minute to talk about the second episode of season 6, but before we go any further:

Oh my gosh, this show is amazing! We’re only two episodes into the season and it is shaping up to be the best season yet. First, let’s talk about Cinder Fall. So, Cinder’s fate was pretty ambiguous at the end of volume 5 and left the fan base slightly divided.

Some believed she had died while others had taken the stance that a character is only dead if you see the death on-screen. Well, we’ve learned that the latter group was correct, but we learn a couple of things. It appears that Cinder’s powers are either weakening or possibly disappearing.

We can’t be sure of the full extent of what Raven did to her in their fight at the end of the previous season. Also, it seems that Salem doesn’t care. I say this simply because if Salem did care, I’m sure that Salem would’ve had her collected. This is a little interesting since Salem seems a little protective of Cinder in Volumes 4 and 5.

One small thing that is easily overlooked is who Cinder talks to. We see Cinder hire a gang for information regarding the heroes. The leader of the gang is Little Miss Malachite who must be based on Little Miss Muffet. She mentions not liking spiders until she got them to work for her. It fits!

Now, we get to the biggest deal about this episode. Ozpin. It took me a bit to realize the scene where they’re all gathered in a room talking about the Relic of Knowledge took place before the train mess, but once I realized it, things got good.

The heroes have some serious problems going on and they’re not happy. They no longer have the train taking them to Atlus, they have Grimm coming after them, and it seems that Ozpin is still lying to them despite his saying he’d be 100% truthful with them. However, during the arguments, Oscar becomes an MVP and helps them essentially unlock the Relic of Knowledge which turns out to be a genie that’s more like Janet from The Good Place.

Finally, Ruby asks Jinn the key question, what is Ozpin hiding from them. That made me lose it! I cannot wait for Episode 3! I love how they are making Ozpin’s secrecy more of a character flaw and not an, “I’m smarter than you and know everything because I’m perfect” trait. It really adds to his character.

Now, it’s theory time. My first theory is pretty obvious. I think that Ozpin helped create Salem. I think it goes beyond him simply knowing how Salem became who she is, but rather he is at least part of the reason for her being this way. By the way, does anyone know who Salem is based on? My current theory is Elfaba but named after the Salem Witch Trials.

My second theory goes back to that scene before the train ride started. I think Ruby wants to ask Jinn about Summer Rose. I’m not sure what exactly she wants to ask, but I think there’s something there. When the power of the Relic is revealed to be able to answer three questions, the focus shifts to Ruby and she has a look that says, “there’s something personal I really want to ask it.”

What are your current theories and questions? I still want to know who this old lady with team RWBY is. Please don’t post anything from future episodes though.
