Did You See That? RWBY Vol. 7 Ep. 1
The seventh volume of RWBY premiered on Saturday, and it was amazing! I absolutely loved it and cannot wait for the next episode. If you have not seen the episode yet, this post contains lots of spoilers, so I would stop reading now. Now, let’s continue.
This episode was so cool! It picks up right where we left off with our heroes approaching Atlas. Things don’t feel right to Weiss because of how the military is deployed. There are video messages all around the city of Ironwood talking about being good citizens of Atlas and stuff. Weiss then tries calling Winter until she sees Winter sharing similar messages. Basically, things aren’t great, and Atlas is under Martial Law and lockdown. Maria lands their plane illegally and shows them to a friend of hers named Pietro. I’m pretty sure that Pietro is based on Geppetto from Pinocchio. He seems to be the guy who built Yang’s arm as he recognizes it and says, “you painted it.” WHAT!?
The heroes then run out when Grimm start attacking the city before we really get an explanation of things or they get help from Pietro. They take down some Grimm, and it’s awesome to see them all in action again. Even Oscar kills a Grimm. The Grimm start to overwhelm them a little when who should show up but Penny! That’s right, Penny’s been rebuilt by her “father” Pietro (the main reason I believe he’s Geppetto). I personally don’t care for her new design, but it is a lot of fun to see her back.
The heroes are then apprehended by Atlas special forces, and that’s where things end. The new opening then played, and it gave me serious anime vibes which was fantastic. It’s not my favorite of the openings, but it is a fun new vibe for the openings.
I freaking loved this. It was a really strong season opener that excelled at setting the tone for the entire season. This is going to be a hard season, I think. They’ve got to deal with Atlas forces, probably Winter, and somehow work with Ironwood. Not to mention the fact that I’m sure Salem’s flying gorilla Grimm are going to be a nuisance. Also, I didn’t mind the new voice actor for Qrow, Jason Liebrecht. He did a fantastic job in the role. I wonder when everyone’s getting their new looks. What was your favorite part of the new episode?
