Did You See That? RWBY Volume 7 Episode 5

Another weekend has come and gone which means a new episode of RWBY! This was an episode that finally got us to a character that has me very intrigued since we learned about them and I’m excited for the future. If you haven’t watched the episode, please stop reading here.

This episode starts out with a montage of everyone going out and doing official jobs as huntsmen and huntresses. It’s fun to watch, especially as Jaune serves as a crossing guard. It also shows that they’re starting to get more used to the lifestyle and to the company of Ace Ops.

Next, we see some of the heroes training with team FNKI from the Vytal Festival. This is the team that included the trumpet playing Flynt Coal and the roller-skating Neon Katt. Not much actually happens here, but it is fun to see these two return and to get a glimpse at their teammates. I doubt they’ll play a role in the future, but it’d be fun.

The first big thing of the episode happens later when Clover, Qrow, Penny, and Ruby are taking some supplies to Amity Colosseum. Robin Hill (voiced by Christina Vee) stops them. I’ve been very interested to see what Robin is like, so I got a little giddy at this part. She’s mostly wondering why these parts are going to Amity and not to Mantle to help them out and of course, they don’t reveal anything to her. We also find out that Robin is trying to get a seat on the council, so I’m sure that’s going to be interesting as she goes against Jacque Schnee. Well, Penny saves everyone by having Robin call off her allies that are behind the heroes.

The next bit is my favorite. We see Winter and Weiss training together and it’s great to see these two interact more as they’ve both grown up so much. They’re both actual people now and it’s great! Well, they have a bit of a heart-to-heart and there’s some talk about the purposes of secrets that is actually very great. I think Ironwood needs to tell the people of Atlas what the heck is going on sooner rather than later. I also think Ruby needs to step up and trust him. But that’s just me. Winter then shows Weiss the Winter Maiden and then it clicks for Weiss that Winter is being groomed to be the next Winter Maiden. Of course, my theory is that Weiss will somehow become the Winter Maiden before the series is over.

Finally, we see Jacque broadcast a message basically calling Ironwood out because of the embargo and this of course riles up the people of Mantle and things are not looking great. I’m not sure what Ironwood is going to do about all this. Things are getting pretty crappy for people and he’s really not helping.

What did you think of the episode? Do you think Robin will be an ally, foe, or neutral party? How do you think Ironwood should proceed? Will Winter become the Winter Maiden?
