Diego Luna Cast in STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE as a Rebel Fighter
Director Gareth Edwards and Lucasfilm have cast another actor in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. Diego Luna will take a lead role in the film opposite Felicity Jones and Riz Ahmed. According to Variety, he will be one of the Rebel fighters battling against the Empire. The article also reveals that Ben Mendelsohn, who was previously rumored to have joined the cast, will star as the film’s primary villain.
The story takes place between Episode III and Episode IV, but closer chronologically to A New Hope. The plot revolves around a "band of resistance fighters unit[ing] for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans." It's going to be The Dirty Dozen of Star Wars movies!
Luna is a solid character actor who has appeared in films such as Milk, The Terminal, and Elysium. This will definitely be the biggest gig he's ever had. No matter who's cast in this film though, people are going to be excited to see it. After all, it's Star Wars!
Rogue One is set to be released on December 16th, 2016.
