Digital Foundry Does an In-Depth Comparison of the 3 Ways to Play GOLDENEYE 007
Whenever a game is available on multiple platforms, it can be fun and interesting to see how the different versions perform differently. It doesn’t matter if it’s a remaster, a port, a simultaneous release, etc.. I find it fun and interesting to dive down into how different versions fare. One of the best groups that examines these differences in my opinion is Digital Foundry as they’ll get into the nitty gritty and are able to examine on a technical level the frames per second and performance of different consoles. With the recent launch of GoldenEye 007 on Nintendo Switch and Xbox Game Pass (affiliate link), many fans have been going back to the game and some are asking themselves which version is better.
Digital Foundry recently put out a video comparing these new ports to the original N64. They go into a lot of details with some technical details, some important things to note, some subjective opinions, etc. For instance, the Xbox version does have the smoothest and fastest frame rate of 30FPS, but the crisper image on the Xbox version does create some flaws. That is just one example of things you’ll hear about in the video and I highly recommend that you watch the entire video below. I found it fascinating. It also made me really want to go back and play my favorite GoldenEye game, GoldenEye: Rogue Agent.
