DIMENSION 20: A CROWN OF CANDY Is and Isn't What You'd Expect from a Mix of D&D, CANDY LAND, and DROPOUT

Dimension 20 is a live-play Dungeons & Dragons show on DROPOUT and features Brennan Lee Mulligan as the Dungeon Master. The new season recently premiered and fans were introduced to the land of Calorum in A Crown of Candy. This season’s players include Emily Axford, Ally Beardsley, Brian Murphy, Zac Oyama, Siobhan Thompson, and Lou Wilson. Also, this season may seem like a D&D version of Candyland (and it basically is) but that does not mean it is safe for children.

I’ve been watching the first couple of episodes and it’s a lot of fun. We start off with the princess (Axford and Thompson) wanting to not be princesses, but rather go out and adventure in different ways. Things then keep picking up and it’s a lot of fun. I do find it fun how Thompson’s character just wants to go join the circus. All the characters are made of candy or other sweets (one of the NPCs is a piece of cake with eyes and limbs).

The humor is very much in the same vein as a lot of the content from CollegeHumor. This makes sense since DROPOUT comes from CH and the whole cast is or at least was part of the CH cast. If you don’t like that style of humor, you probably won’t enjoy A Crown of Candy, but if you enjoy Dungeons & Dragons, you may still find plenty to love like a peppermint pig animal companion.

Mulligan is a fantastic DM and all the cast members do fantastic jobs bringing their characters to life. One thing that I greatly appreciate about this season is that all the player characters are already connected. In many games, the DM has to create hooks to connect all the characters together, but this group features characters that all know each other and are connected.

If you enjoy Dungeons & Dragons and would like to check out a world of sweets brought to life, you’ll wan tot check out Dimension 20: A Crown of Candy on DROPOUT. The first episode will be available on April 8.
