For those of you wondering what Suicide Squad director David Ayer thinks about James Gunn’s upcoming film The Suicide Squad, he actually seems super excited about it!
Ayer recently took to Twitter to clarify to fans that Gunn’s film is going to be a complete reinvention of the franchise and will not be a sequel. He also went out of his way to praise Gunn and share his excitement for the franchise and say he thinks Gunn will knock it out of the park.
Ayer went on to address the shared characters and actors between the two films, explaining:
It’s great to see that he’s excited about and has no ill will toward Gunn about reinventing the film.
The film will being back Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, with Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag. They will be joined by Idris Elba in an undisclosed role, David Dastmalchian will portray Polka-Dot Man, alongside Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher, and Steve Agee as the voice of King Shark. Additionally, Nathan Fillion, Peter Capaldi, Michael Rooker, Storm Reid, John Cena, and more will show up in the film.

Kinnaman previously talked about the film saying, “It’s so funny… I feel like I’m shooting my first comedy. There are a lot of really funny people there. It’s like a learning experience. I’m around a lot of incredible funny people.”
