DARKEST HOUR Director Joe Wright Teaming Up with Tom Hanks for a New WWII Film Called IN THE GARDEN OF BEASTS

Director Joe Wright (Darkest Hour, Atonement) has found a new film project that he’d like to take on, and it will be an adaptation of In The Garden of Beasts. Wright is a great director and storyteller who has made some beautiful films.

Tom Hanks is producing the film through his Playtone Productions, and there’s a chance that that he might actually take on the role of the lead character.

The story is set in World War II and the book is based on the true story of William Dodd, “a mild-mannered Chicago professor who becomes America’s first ambassador to Hitler’s Germany before the Nazis began to assert an iron grip across Europe. At first, his family embraces the vibrant scene in Berlin, but the ambassador soon learns of reports of violence against Jews. Even though his dispatches to the State Department are met with indifference, he continues to be concerned with the growing press censorship and the passage of shocking laws. It leads to the gradual realization of the horrific genocide that Hitler actually has planned.”

This certainly sounds like it will be an intense and powerful film. If Hanks does star in the movie, he will take on the role of William Dodd.

This will be a great project for Wright to take on. He’s already made some wonderful WWII movies, and I’m sure that he’ll deliver another great movie with this next project. Now hopefully Hanks comes on board to star in it!
