Director Jordan Peele Breaks Down Scene in US and Explains How He Builds Suspense

Jordan Peele’s new horror film Us exploded at the box office this weekend, and for the most part, audiences seem to be enjoying the unique and frightening story that he tells. I thought it was great, and you can read my review of it here.

I thought Peele made another crazy-ass movie. I’ve really enjoyed his directing style and the storytelling techniques that he uses. In a recent video posted by The New York Times, Peele breaks down the scene from the film where the “Teathered” family arrives at the Wilson’s home, and he explains how he builds the suspense in the scene.

Peele also reveals that he was inspired by films like Halloween and Poltergeist as he was executing this intense sequence.

Watch the video and let us know what you thought about Us. Was it a satisfying horror film? If not, what didn’t you like about it?

"There's a family in our driveway." That ominous line kicks off this creepy scene from "Us," Jordan Peele's new horror film about a family (Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex) terrorized by its doppelgängers.
