Director Matt Reeves Says He'd Love to Do THE PENGUIN Season 2 and More Spin-Off Shows Beyond THE BATMAN: PART II

Despite not being a part of James Gunn’s DCU, director Matt Reeves has built a universe around his film The Batman that fans are finding compelling.

He gave us the first dark and gritty film which found Bruce Wayne (Robert Pattinson) in his second year of being the Dark Knight, where he was leaning into his detective mode. Then the TV series The Penguin came out, giving us some context for the character Oswald Cobb (Colin Farrell), and we are all ready for more.

Reeves is also ready to continue his work in this world, and he expressed his hopes in an interview with MTV News, saying, “I would love to do more [spinoff series],” adding that “the thing we’re really focused on” is The Batman 2.

“We’re talking about doing the second season of The Penguin, but my big priority is to get The Batman 2 shooting and going. And then it’ll be exciting where we’ll go from there.”

He went on to confirm that production is set to begin this year, and added, “Our plan, and our hope, is absolutely to do another season [of The Penguin]. We just have to come up with the idea that we think is the right idea, which is what we’re working on.”

While development on The Batman 2 is “taking longer than I would have wanted,” Reeves said, “I’m super excited about what we’re doing, so I really can’t wait to share that with everybody.”

We are excited to see the next movie, and the next Batman universe stories he will tell via TV.
