Director Rian Johnson Doesn't Seem So Sure About His STAR WARS Trilogy Anymore
After Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released, Lucasfilm wasted no time in signing up director Rian Johnson to develop a new trilogy set in a different corner of the Star Wars universe filled with completely new characters. The filmmaker has been pretty confident over the past year that the new Star Wars trilogy he signed up for was still moving forward. But in a recent interview, he didn’t seem so sure.
He explained that the studio is currently in the process of "figuring out what they're doing," and in regards to his project, he mentioned that he would "be thrilled if it happens."
The keyword used there is “if.” The word “if” tells us he’s not 100% certain that his trilogy is a go. CEO Bob Iger has said that Lucasfilm was going back to the drawing board after Solo was released, so who knows what is going to happen.
I know a lot of people who didn’t like The Last Jedi will like this news, but I’ve actually been looking forward to seeing what Johnson comes up with! So, if his trilogy doesn’t happen, I’ll be a little bummed out. But there will be new Star Wars movies coming regardless, so we still have those to look forward to!
