Director Rian Johnson Gives Update on His Next Star-Studded Benoit Blanc Mystery KNIVES OUT 3
Director Rian Johnson has made it clear that he is happy to continue making murder mysteries for his detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) as long as he has stories to tell. So as the Hollywood writers strike has come to a close, Johnson is back to working on his next installment, Knives Out 3, or as he has described his franchise, his next “Benoit Blanc Mystery.” The stories began with Knives Out in 2019, the story of a family fortune tangled up in a murder mystery. It then moved on to an island and a friend group reuniting amid secrets and lies for Blanc to untangle in the 2022 film Glass Onion.
Johnson has given fans an update on the next movie in a recent interview with The Wrap, stating:
“It’s coming along. I obviously couldn’t work during the strike, and now that it’s over, I’m diving in full force, and so it’s coming along. I’ve got the premise, I’ve got the setting, I’ve got what the movie is in my head. It’s just a matter of writing the damn thing.”
While that’s not a whole lot of info, there’s no doubt the next film will also include a dazzling star-studded cast, as well as a twisty-turny plot with delightfully playful and humorous dialogue to enjoy. Knives Out 3 does not have a release date set yet, but stay tuned and we will keep you updated as it develops.
