DOPE Director Rick Famuyiwa in Talks to Helm Episodes of Lucasfilm's Disney+ Series CASSIAN ANDOR
A new report has revealed that director Rick Famuyiwa, known for directing Wood and Dope, as well as two episodes of the upcoming Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, is in early talks to direct some episodes of another upcoming Disney+ series that’s in the works, the untitled Star Wars Cassian Andor series. This is a prequel series to the 2016 movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, that will follow the character Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, during the formative years of the rebellion.
Famuyiwa has already been attached to direct some of the second season of The Mandalorian, and discussingfilm reports that Disney is impressed with the work they’ve seen from him so far, so this rumor seems like it will likely come to fruition. The site reports that their source claims an offer has been made to Famuyiwa, and he is in early negotiations with the studio.
This sounds like a no-brainer, and hopefully if he’s done as well as they say with his work on The Mandalorian, we will see him back on both upcoming projects.
