Director Shane Black's Cold War Era Film COLD WARRIOR Picked Up By Netflix

Director Shane Black has been trying to develop a film called Cold Warrior at Universal Pictures over the past ten years. According to Collider, the Cold War era film project has landed at Netflix. In fact, Netflix picked it up last year, but it's just now being reported.

The script for the film was originally written by Chuck Mondry (Doc Savage) and the story follows a retired Cold War-era spy "who teams with a younger agent to track down a terrorist."

I love a good spy thriller and It'll be fun to see how Black handles it and brings the story to life. There aren't a lot of details on the work that has been put into the script over the years, but it's safe to assume that Black has taken a pass on it because he always adds his own style and flavor to the films he makes.

There's no word on when Black will dive into production on the project, but there's a chance he could start working on it when he's finished with all the promotion work on The Predator. Netflix likes to work fast, though, and they will give Black all the creative freedom he needs to make the film that he wants to make.

I'm a big fan of the films that Black has made and it's great to see that he'll be taking on an original film project next.
