Director Steven Caple Jr. Says Michael Bay Was Generous in Giving Him Advice While He Made TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts hit theaters this past weekend, and while critics aren’t giving it super great reviews, the fans seem to be enjoying it. It’s got to be no easy feat to create a film of this scale, especially one with a built-in fanbase, and films that have come before it, made by other directors.
This film’s director, Steven Caple Jr., known for making The Land and Creed II, didn’t try to just wing it on his own though. He brought his vision to the film, all while reaching out for help from veteran Transformers franchise director Michael Bay.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Caple said he reached out to Bay, who made the time for the young director despite having his hands full with Ambulance.
“[Michael Bay] was making Ambulance at the time, but he still picked up the phone and hopped onto Zoom. Monday through Friday, I was prepping for the film, and Saturday, Sunday, I was learning a lot from the visual effects supervisor and calls with Michael Bay. He gave hints and tips on how to accomplish certain things, so you‘ve definitely gotta hit those guys up who’ve done it before me. It helps.”
It’s very cool that despite being busy, Bay made the time to help out this up-and-coming director with a franchise he knows a lot about.
