Director Taika Waititi Confirms Two Thors for Marvel's THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER
One of the big Marvel movies announced at Comic-Con this year that got fans super excited was Thor: Love and Thunder! It was also revealed that Natalie Portman would be reprising her role as Jane Foster, who will become Thor in the movie.
No details were given about the story, but in the comics, Jane Foster became the Mighty Thor after the original Thor became unworthy to wield Mjolnir. Well, it doesn’t look like the film is going to follow that storyline, because director Taika Waititi recently confirmed that there will be two Thors in the film.
The filmmaker talked to Entertainment Tonight at Disney's D23 Expo and indicated that Chris Hemsworth's version of Thor Odinson won't lose his status and that Jane Foster will instead join him as a second Thor:
"[She's] a Thor. There's still the other Thor, the original Thor [played by Hemsworth]. She's not called Female Thor. In the comics, she's called the Mighty Thor. It comes from that comic run. I couldn't be more happy and excited."
It’ll be interesting to see how Waititi is going to handle this aspect of the story, but there’s no doubt he’s going to have fun with it and that there will be plenty of funny moments between Thor and Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder premieres in theaters on November 5, 2021.
