Director Taika Waititi Wants to Make Another Marvel Movie, But Not GUARDIANS VOL. 3

There were previous rumors about Taika Waititi possibly meeting with Marvel about directing James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. While a lot of fans liked the idea of him picking up where Gunn left off, Waititi isn't interested in it at all.

He confirmed during the FX TCA that he was not directing the film, but he does hope to make another movie with them again one day.

“I’m still hanging out with those guys (Marvel) and talking about new stuff. I want to do another movie with them."

As for why he's not interested in Guardians Vol. 3, he just doesn't want to go into James Gunn's house and mess anything up:

“I didn’t really. For me, those are James (Gunn)’s films. Going into something like that with his stamp all over his films, would be like going into someone’s house and saying ‘Hey, I’m your new dad, and this is how we make peanut butter sandwiches now. It feels kind of awkward.”

And that's why Marvel is going to have such a hard time replacing Gunn. I'm sure they'll find someone to take it on, but whoever it is better be good and have thick skin because he or she is going to be stepping into some big creative shoes, and they’re sure to get some crap from the fans.
