Director Travis Knight Will Reportedly Start Shooting Sony's UNCHARTED Movie in 2020

Sony Pictures has been trying to get Tom Holland’s feature film adaptation of the hit video game Uncharted into production for years. The project has gone through several directors over that time including Joe Carnahan, Shawn Levy and Dan Trachtenberg. All of them solid directors, but I think the studio ended up making the right choice when they hired Travis Knight to take it on. He’s the guy who previously brought us Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee.

According to Discussing Film, Sony’s Uncharted movie will actually start shooting in February 2020 in Berlin, Germany.

Holland is set to play a young version of Nathan Drake, and the film will tell “an origin story that evolves out of the game but is not from the game." It will follow the character as he grows into the treasure hunter that we all love from the game. I guess if anyone can make this concept work, it’s Knight.

I personally don’t care for the concept and I don’t think Holland is right for the role. But, let’s see what happens. Let’s see how this thing turns out. Most fans seem to want a film that follows the older version of Nathan Drake from the game.

The script for the film was written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Rafe Judkins. The movie will go into production early next year, and it will be released on December 18th, 2020.
