Directors of BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 Give Update on Sequel That Will Be Heading to Netflix
Directing team Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Snowfall, Bad Boys For Life) signed on to direct the fourth installment of the classic Eddie Murphy action comedy Beverly Hills Cop 4 before they were asked to direct the recent Bad Boys For Life. But the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence film has come and gone, and we still haven’t heard much on the Beverly Hills Cop sequel.
But recently, the guys spoke out about the status of the film. El Arbi said, “We're still involved in that project, and there's a screenwriter now on it that's going to try to write a first draft, or a first treatment at least with the story. So we're going to see what the first version will be, but we're very excited and hope that we can work with another icon like Eddie Murphy. That'd be great.”
Murphy has confirmed that he will return to the franchise, with Jerry Bruckheimer returning as producer. Netflix has said that if this film does well at the streamer, they are open to working with the crew on further sequels.
El Arbi went on to say what a dream it is to be working on this film, saying:
When I was a kid, it was one of my favourite movies. It was the quintessential Jerry Bruckheimer movie – a buddy-cop, humour action movie. Bad Boys is a Beverly Hills Cop kind of movie. And of course, Eddie Murphy is an idol.
And Fallah added:
Yeah, he is the Godfather!
So it sounds like things are moving in the right direction. With the pandemic, things in Hollywood really slowed down. But it seems like things are slowly picking back up, and a script being written is great news. Are you excited to see a fourth Beverly Hills Cop?
