Disney Analyst Doesn't Think Movie Theaters Will Open Back Up Until Mid-2021
I don’t know about you, but the effects that COVID-19 has had on the country has really taken a toll on people. I know for me, while I haven’t contracted it, my anxiety and depression has been through the roof.
One of the things that I miss the most is going to the movies. Before the pandemic I was going to the movies at least two times a week and I’ve been looking forward to the day when they open back up so I can start going again!
Well, according to Disney analyst Cowen’s Doug Creutz, we might be waiting a lot longer than we thought. He expects that movie theaters in the U.S. could remain “largely closed until mid-2021.” He explains that this is “in part because we don't think studios will be interested in releasing their largest movies into a capacity-constrained footprint.”
I know that’s not what a lot of you wanted to hear, but seeing how this COVID-19 pandemic has been playing out, it certainly is possible that the opening of theaters could be pushed back until next year.
There’s not much we can do about the situation. All we can do is be patient and on the bright side, I’ve been saving a lot of money by not going to the movies! But still can’t wait to go back!
