Disney+ and Hulu Will Combine Into One App This Year

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently announced during the company's quarterly earnings call that Disney+ and Hulu will combine into a single app later this year. For now, this will just happen in the United States.

Iger explained: "While we continue to offer Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ as standalone options, this is a logical progression of our DTC offerings that will provide greater opportunities for advertisers, while giving bundle subscribers access to more robust and streamlined content, resulting in greater audience engagement and ultimately leading to a more unified streaming experience.”

Combining all of these will definitely make browsing your watchlists and scrolling through your viewing options easier, but they won’t force to have both if you don’t want them.

This decision also comes after it was reported that Disney+ has lost over 4 million subscribers in 2023. The service is definitely losing some steam.

It was also revealed by Disney's Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy that Disney+ "will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms" in the coming months. She added that they are "in the process of reviewing the content on our DTC services to align with the strategic changes in our approach to content curation."

I subscribe to all of them, but most of the original content of Disney+ just isn’t really very good. They have a few things worth watching in the Star Wars and Marvel franchises, but a lot of the other stuff just isn’t very good.
