Disney Animation Is Developing Two More ZOOTOPIA Films

Movie DisneyZootopia by Joey Paur

If you were a fan of Disney Animation’s 2016 film Zootopia, you’ll be happy to learn that the studio is developing two more films in the franchise!

The news comes from Zootopia voice actor Tommy “Tiny” Lister, who plays the character Finnick, who was the sidekick of Jason Bateman’s character Nick Wilde. During a recent public appearance at a Dave and Busters in Ontario, Canada, he revealed:

“I can tell you for sure I’m doing another Zootopia with Disney. We doing three of them. [There were] three Madagascars. We’re gonna replace that. We’re the biggest film that Disney is producing. The last one was $240 million. This one I’m hearing will be $300 million. That’s what they spent on the budget, not the advertising. But the movie made $2.6 billion, with merchandising and the box office.”

That’s a pretty big budget for an animated film! Directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore did a fantastic job building the world of Zootopia, and it’s not hard to imagine that the sequels would explore some of the other environments in that world. As far as the plot goes for the upcoming sequels, there are no details.

There’s no word on when we will see the first of these sequels released, but I imagine it’ll be awhile since Disney has made no official mention of it yet. Regardless, are you excited to hear that there are a couple more Zootopia movies coming?
