Disney Casts Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric in THE LITTLE MERMAID Live-Action Remake

Disney has found the actor they want to play Prince Eric in their upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. That actor is Jonah Hauer-King (Little Women, A Dog’s Way Home). I don’t really recognize the kid from anything, but it looks like he’ll fit the role!

At one point, Harry Styles was in talks to play the prince, but he ended up passing. Hauer-King went through two screen tests with director Rob Marshall and impressed him enough to land the role.

Hauer-King will join the previously cast Halle Bailey, who will play Ariel, a mermaid princess who dreams of being a human; Melissa McCarthy will play her evil aunt Ursula; Javier Bardem is playing King Triton; and Daveed Diggs has been tapped to play Sebastian.

The upcoming movie is said to be incorporating original songs from the 1989 animated classic as well as new tunes from original composer Alan Menken with lyrics by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda is also producing the film with Marshall.
