Disney Casts Zach Galifianakis in Live-Action LILO & STITCH Movie and His Character Possibly Revealed
Disney has been enjoying the success of the live-action/CGI remakes of their animated classic, and they have been developing a new one for Lilo & Stitch with Marcel the Shell With Shoes On filmmaker Dean Fleischer-Camp at the helm.
They are just starting to fill the cast of the movie, and it was recently announced that Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) has signed on to star in the project.
As for who he’s playing, The Wrap reports that he’ll be playing the alien character Pleakley, who was voiced by Kevin McDonald in the original animated film. Pleakley is a member of the Galactic Federation who reluctantly became Jumba Jookiba's partner as an "Earth expert" and was forced to assist him in capturing the escaped Experiment 626 a.k.a. Stitch.
The original film is such a fun flick! The story was set in Hawaii and told the story of the bond formed between a lonely young girl named Lilo and a lovable, yet dangerous alien named Stitch, who was engineered to be a force of destruction. The central theme of the film is the bond of family, but the story also includes Lilo and Stitch on the run from pursuing aliens and social workers.
The movie is being written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, and while there aren’t many details about the film, I imagine this remake will tell the same exact story, but with live-action characters and realistic CGI effects. While some people don’t care for all these live-action/CGI remakes that Disney is developing, fans still flock to the theaters to watch them and they make a ton of money. So, of course, Disney is going to keep pumping them out!
