Disney CEO Bob Chapek Doesn't Seem to Know Disney's Audience as He Doesn't Believe Adults Like Animated Films

The CEO of Disney Studios, Bob Chapek, doesn’t seem to know the audience very well of the company that he’s running. He believes that adult audiences aren’t interested in watching animated movies. While I’m sure this is true for some people, I’m pretty confident that the majority of adult Disney fans do like watching animated movies. I know I do!

In the video clip below, Chapek is answering a question during Wall Street Journal Tech Live, and he says:

"I always say that after our audience puts our kids to bed after watching Pinnochio or Dumbo or Little Mermaid, they're probably not going to tune into another animated movie. They want something for them.”

As you might imagine, Chapek is getting a lot of heated reactions from Disney fans. As for my stance on the matter, I raised three girls, and when they were younger we watched animated Disney films all the time! Then after they fell asleep and went to bed in the middle of a movie, my wife and I would finish watching it!

Those old classic films are a joy to watch and wherever I watch them, they bring back those wonderful nostalgic feelings. I think Chapek is speaking for himself when he says this; I’m pretty sure that he’s the adult that doesn’t like watching Disney animated movies, which is funny considering his position.

There’s plenty of room for adults to enjoy watching adult films and animated films!

Here’s some of the fan backlash that Chapek is getting:
