Disney Channel Announces New Musical Event Celebrating Empowering Disney Princesses and Queens
Disney Channel recently announced a new music special called Disney Princess Remixed – An Ultimate Princess Celebration to take place during World Princess Week. The special will premiere on August 27 at 7:30 PM EDT/PDT and will be narrated by 12-year-old social media star Txunamy Ortiz. The special will run for 30 minutes and is meant to celebrate the attributes of Disney princesses and queens that empower others. There will be reimagined performances of iconic songs from Disney and Brandy will be debuting her music video for “Starting Now” which serves as the anthem for The Walt Disney Company’s year-long event titled Ultimate Princess Celebration.
Fans will be able to enjoy Dara Reneé, Frankie Rodriguez, Julia Lester (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series), Izabela Rose (Secrets of Sulphur Springs), Ruth Righi (Sydney to the Max), and Sophia Hammons (Under Wraps) are all set to perform pop, rock, and R&B remixes of “Into the Unknown” from Frozen 2, “Home” from the musical of Beauty and the Beast, “Almost There” from Princess and the Frog, and “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. I’m extremely interested in the fact that they chose a song from a Broadway show and not one of the movies. Granted, it’s a fantastic song, I’m just surprised. Three singles from the special will be released on August 13 in Into the Unknown (Disney Princess Remixed) with two additional singles releasing on August 27.
Disney Princess Remixed – An Ultimate Princess Celebration on Disney Channel will be preceded by showings of Tangled at 4:05 PM and Frozen at 5:45 PM with a special princess-themed episode of Disney’s Magic Bake-Off following the event at 8 PM. Fans will be able to watch the event on Disney+ in select markets on August 27 including the United States.
