Disney Confirms That the Galaxy's Edge Ride RISE OF THE RESISTANCE Will Clock in at 15 Minutes

We have word from Disney that the highly anticipated attraction Rise of the Resistance in the Star Wars land of Galaxy’s Edge will last approximately 15 minutes beginning to end. The ride is being described as four rides in one and will be at least 15 minutes long from start to finish.

Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, made the following statement during a segment on the TV special, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — Adventure Awaits that aired this past Sunday on Freeform:

“Imagine being chased for 15 minutes by Kylo Ren and the First Order. Stormtroopers everywhere. Lightsabers coming at you. It’s going to be fantastic.”

The OCR gave this description of the attraction and some of the footage and characters that will be featured throughout the attraction:

The new attraction will put riders in the middle of a battle between the villainous First Order and the heroic Resistance in a dangerous off-planet mission as new recruits. Along the way, the recruits will be captured aboard a Star Destroyer, break out of a First Order detention cell, elude the clutches of Kylo Ren and escape back to a secret base on the Star Wars planet of Batuu, the setting for the new 14-acre Galaxy’s Edge lands.

The Rise of the Resistance attraction will feature videotaped, holographic and audio-animatronic appearances by some of the characters from the latest Star Wars trilogy. The “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Adventure Awaits” TV special showed scenes being filmed for the Rise of the Resistance ride by Daisy Ridley (who plays Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Issac (Poe Dameron) and Adam Driver (Kylo Ren). The actors recorded their scenes for the new attraction while making the upcoming “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” movie.

This sounds pretty incredible. While the Star Tours ride has always held up, even with the updates in the past decade, this will be so much more immersive and state of the art. While the 15 minute runtime is almost half of the first rumored run time we reported, 15 minutes is plenty, and still a totally satisfying experience for fans, even who waited a long time to board.

I’m incredibly excited to get back to Disneyland to experience all that the Galaxy’s Edge has to offer. Rise of the Resistance will hit Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida on December 5, 2019, and Disneyland Park in Anaheim, CA. on January 17, 2020. Will you be able to check it out soon?
