Disney Developing a Movie Musical Based on The Songs of Lionel Richie Titled ALL NIGHT LONG
Disney Studios is developing an original movie musical that will be based on the songs of the great Lionel Richie. The movie is being tentatively titled All Night Long, and it will utilize some of Richie’s greatest hits.
Richie sold the pitch to Disney earlier this year and the movie is said to be in line with “the jukebox musical vibe of the hugely successful Mamma Mia films based on the Abba songbook.” Movie musicals have generated a lot of buzz at the box office in recent years, especially with movies like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman.
Screenwriter Pete Chiarelli (Crazy Rich Asians, The Proposal) is currently working on the script. As of right now, there’s no word on what the story will be about, but I’m a fan of Richie’s music so I’m excited and curious to see what comes of this movie.
