Disney+ Developing a New ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY Movie

Disney+ is developing a new film adaption of Judith Viorst’s classic children’s book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. This version of the film is said to be a “Latino-centric adaptation” and Eva Longoria and George Lopez are on board to star.

Marvin Lemus, the co-creator and showrunner of Netflix’s Gentefied, will direct the feature, which is being produced by Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps and The Jim Henson Company. Matt Lopez (Father of the Bride, Clifford the Big Red Dog) wrote the script.

This new version of the story follows “a Mexican American family who have recently lost their connection to each other and their roots, as they embark on an epic road trip that immediately goes hilariously wrong.”

Longoria will play Alexander’s mother, “a travel writer who has lost her passion for work, while Lopez has been cast as the family’s grandfather, a tough biker.”

I loved this story when I was a kid and I enjoyed the adaptation that was released back in 2014. That movie was produced by Dan Levine and Lisa Henson and they are returning as producers on this new project.

Production of the film will start in spring in New Mexico.
