Disney Didn't Know James Gunn Was Directing THE SUICIDE SQUAD When They Met to Rehire Him
James Gunn recently wrapped production on The Suicide Squad, and DC and fans of the director are excited to see what kind of film he’s going to deliver. One thing is for sure, it was a rewarding experience for him. He shared his heartfelt thoughts on social media saying:
It’s great to hear that this was such a fulfilling experience for him, and it’s a film he might not have made a chance to make had he not been initially fired from Disney! That whole thing is what led him to Warner Bros., which is where he was given the opportunity to choose whatever DC project he wanted to make.
Obviously, Suicide Squad was calling his name. Well, it turns out that when Disney met with Gunn to rehire him, they had no idea he was making The Suicide Squad. In the comment section of the Instagram post below a fan asked, “Without dc giving you this opportunity do you think Disney would've come back around for Gotg 3?” Gun responded with:
“I know for a fact they would have as they didn’t know about Squad when they first talked to me.”
I’m just glad that Gunn got the opportunity to make The Suicide Squad and that Disney brought him back to make Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I’m totally stoked for The Suicide Squad, which might very well end up being the best DC film that has been made.
