Disney+ Has Revealed Slate of Upcoming Unscripted Series Including Reboot of Reality Competition Series THE QUEST
Disney+ has such a great library of new and classic titles that came with the streaming service and has continually rolled out since November. Now we have a list of four new, unscripted original series that are coming soon that was revealed by the company at the Disney+ panel at the Realscreen Summit in New Orleans (via THR).
The report says that Disney+ content senior vice president Agnes Chu announced:
“These projects take people on epic adventures, immerse them in fantastical worlds and shine a light on extraordinary people and creatures, which are all important benchmarks of our Disney+ nonfiction content philosophy. We are thrilled that we get to bring the groundbreaking The Quest back to life, and can’t wait for people to discover The Maze, our special subjects in Meet the Chimps and the innovation and wonder of making Pixar’s SparkShorts.”
The Quest is an adaptation of the 2014 original ABC series, which was “a combination of live-action role-playing and traditional reality competition. Like the original, the reboot will be filmed at a castle outside Vienna — though, this time, the cast will be made up of teenagers.”
The Maze “follows five teams, each consisting of one adult and one teen relative, as they solve riddles and puzzles on a journey through European cities.”
Meet the Chimps will be under Disney+’s National Geographic category. “The six-part docu-series takes place at one of the largest and most unique wildlife sanctuaries in the world, Chimp Haven, a 200-acre refuge that’s tucked into rural Louisiana.”
The Untitled Pixar SparkShorts series “will follow a group of Pixar employees tapped to make their own animated short films under the studio’s SparkShorts program.”
These all sound like great titles! Something for everyone. Which series will you be checking out?
