Disney is Developing a Remake of Their Animated Classic ROBIN HOOD with The Director of BLINDSPOTTING
Oo de lally, oo de lally, golly what a day! We all saw this coming! Disney Studios is developing a remake of their classic 1973 animated film Robin Hood. The movie will be a CGI animated film where the anthropomorphic animals will be made to look real. Hopefully, this ends up looking better than Cats!
Carlos Lopez Estrada, who directed the great 2018 film Blindspotting, is on board to helm the project, which is being written by Kari Granlund (Lady and the Tramp). The film is being produced by Justin Springer, who previously worked on Dumbo and Tron Legacy.
The movie is being developed for Disney+ and it will be a musical that tells the same story as the original film. In case you don’t remember, Robin Hood was a fox; Little John a bear; Friar Tuck a badger; Prince John a thumb-sucking lion; the sheriff of Nottingham a wolf; and Maid Marian a vixen.
When evil Prince John deputizes the Sheriff of Nottingham to collect unreasonable taxes from the animals of Sherwood Forest, Robin, Little John and the other merry men wage a lighthearted battle against their evil foes.
I liked the original Robin Hood movie when I was a kid and I’m sure that the kids will enjoy this remake. While it has been interesting to see how these Disney animated films would look like in live-action, I wish that they would actually start pumping out more original content. But, we all know that Disney will continue to play it safe. They’re not in the business of taking risks anymore. It seems like Walt Disney was the only one that was willing to take real risks.
