Disney Is Looking to Open Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure Back Up on July 17th
Disney is ready to get its California-based theme parks back up and running soon! They’ve set plans to reopen Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure on July 17th! That’s a week after Downtown Disney District opens up on July 9th. As for the hotels, The Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and the Paradise Pier Hotel will be opening back up on July 23rd.
This all comes after Dr. Christina Ghaly, the director of Health Services for L.A. County, said that“the spread of COVID-19 in the Los Angeles County area is likely to increase gradually over time.” Business can’t stay closed forever, though. The world has got to open up at some point so that people can make money to put food on their tables, pay their rent, mortgages, and bills.
There’s no doubt that Disney fans will flock to the theme parks when they reopen. Disneyland Resort officials say they will “manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests, including annual pass holders, to get advanced reservations for park entry.” There will also be a “guest experience team” that will be available throughout the parks and to help visitors navigate the new process.
The capacity at the Disney California parks will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing.
It’s explained that the parades and nighttime events will not be a part of the reopening as they tend to bring in big crowds, so those will return at a later date. Also, fans won’t be able to meet their favorite characters yet. While Disney characters will be in the parks, they will be utilized “in new ways to entertain and delight guests.”
It’s going to be interesting to see how things play out when the Disney parks open. Disney’s Shanghai theme park reopened a month ago, and Disney World in Florida is also going to welcome visitors again in July. This is all to start the recovery process from the coronavirus pandemic.
I don’t know, I’ll probably wait until the parks open back up fully before I try to go again. It just seems like it’ll be much more a hassle to go and spend all that money with all of the new guidelines and limitations in place.
