Disney Is Pulling All Their Movies Off Netflix and Making You Pay For Another Streaming Service
For those of you Disney fans who enjoyed watching Disney films on Netflix and Hulu, your world is about to change. Disney announced that they are pulling their films from these streaming services so that they can create their own. That's right! Disney is going to make you pay for another streaming service because apparently, they need the money.
Disney will launch the new service in 2019 after they launch an ESPN streaming service next year. There aren't a lot of details on the service but according to THR, CEO Bob Iger said that "if a movie is Pixar- or Disney-branded, it will probably appear exclusively on the new service — including shows and movies made specifically for the service."
The jury is still out on the Marvel and Star Wars franchises, but since they are under the Disney brand, I imagine they will also be included in the service. As Iger puts it, this is all just "a strategic shift in the way we distribute our content."
Personally, I don't want to have to pay for yet another streaming service, but my kids love all things Disney, so it's one that I might have eventually sign up for. We'll have to wait and see. It all depends on what the service has to offer.
Would you consider signing up for an Disney streaming service?
