Disney Is Developing a New FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR Film with Bryce Dallas Howard at the Helm
Disney Studios is developing a new film based on the classic 1986 sci-fi adventure thriller Flight of the Navigator. I knew that one day this was going to happen, it was only a matter of time.
The new reimagining will feature a female lead and The Mandalorian director Bryce Dallas Howard is attached to direct and produce the film for Disney+.
I am such a huge fan of the original film. I loved it so much as a kid, and when I watch it as an adult I’m just filled with such heartwarming nostalgia. I hate that the movie is being reimagined, but as I said, I was expecting it to happen.
The original movie starred Joey Cramer, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Veronica Cartwright. The story followed a boy who travels eight years into the future from 1978 and has an adventure with an intelligent, wisecracking alien ship, named Max, who was voiced by Paul Reubens.
I imagine that this new film will follow a similar story but set in the present day. This will be Howard’s first time directing a major feature film like this. I’ve enjoyed the work that she’s done on The Mandalorian, though, and I’m sure she will end up making a fine film. Hopefully, it’s it turns out to be something that fans, like myself, will enjoy.
What are your thoughts about Disney reimagining Flight of the Navigator with Bryce Dallas Howard at the helm?
