Disney Is Reportedly Developing a Live-Action HERCULES Movie and They're Looking at Jon Favreau or The Russo Bros. to Direct

According to The Disinsider, Disney Studio is now looking to develop a live-action remake of its animated 1997 film Hercules. At this point, we should just expect to see every Disney animated property eventually get a live-action remake. Everything except Gargoyles. For some reason they won’t touch Gargoyles.

The studio has brought in Jeffery Silver (The Lion King, Tron: Legacy) and Karen Gilchrist (The Lion King, The Mandalorian) to produce the film. It’s also being reported that Disney is looking at three possible directors to helm the film and they are wanting to get some A-list directing talent on board!

The director they want to bring in include Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Lion King,The Mandalorian), Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame), and finally Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Ring).

These directors are just names on a list, and Disney is not in official talks with any of them at this point. But, once a director is locked in the process will being on writing the script and casting the film. The plan is to release the film in theaters and not on Disney+. It’s also expected to feature the songs from the original animated film, along with some new additions.

The original Hercules movie is a great film! I really enjoyed that one, and it’ll be interesting to see who ends up being cast in the film. They should bring Danny DeVito back as Phil and James Woods as Hades. But who do you think would be the perfect fit for Hercules?
